We teamed up with Turano Baking Company, a long time Chicagoland favorite, to give you guys a Memorial Day recipe that highlights their perfect buns. Below is a recipe for a Greek-style lamb burger with a whipped feta sauce. The bun is the second most important ingredient when creating a burger. You need it to be soft and pillowy while still being able to hold-up to all your ingredients and a juicy burger. We used Turano's Gourmet Sandwich Rolls (head HERE for where you can purchase yours) for this recipe because of the proportion of the top and bottom bun, it definitely held up to our juicy lamb patty and creamy sauce. Lamb Burger Patties:

1.5 lbs ground lamb

1 - chopped shallot

2 - minced garlic cloves

1 tsp - oregano 

1/2 tsp chili flakes

1 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

4 tbsp fresh mint, chopped

3 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped


Cucumber whipped feta:

1 cup cream cheese

1 cup feta

1 cucumber, chopped

1 lime, zest and juice

Salt and pepper to taste



3-4 roasted red and yellow bell peppers, sliced


Red onion

Ciabatta Bun



  1. Prepare whipped feta spread - combine cream cheese, feta ,lime juice, lime zest, salt and pepper in medium bowl. Mix on medium speed until all ingredients are mixed completely together. Next, add your diced cucumber and gently fold in. Place in refrigerator until ready to use. 
  2. Prepare your grill for cooking over high direct heat.
  3. In a medium bowl combine all the lamb burger patties ingredients together and gently mix everything together until everything is well incorporated. Divide the meat in 4 and form into burger patties.
  4. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes per side. DO NOT press on the patties while cooking. 2 Minutes before the patties are done cooking, add the burger buns to the grill and grill them for about 30 seconds.
  5. Remove everything from the grill and let rest for 2 minutes. To assemble the burgers: start with adding some whipped feta spread to the bottom of the Turano Gourmet Bun, place the red onion slice on top, then the burger patty, followed by the roasted peppers, arugula, and a little more feta spreadto the top bun. 
  6. Serve immediately.
